As a Non-Profit Organisation, we are approached by various other organisations when it involves Raptors of any shape or form...
We are, as Magaliesberg Raptor Research and Rescue Project, involved with Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in the monitoring of Verreaux's Eagle Pairs on both the Magaliesberg Mountain Range and the Bronberg Mountain, we also monitor the eagle pairs in the Bronkhorst River Gorge which leads into Ezemvelo Nature reserve.
As specialists on The Breeding and Foraging Habits of Urbanised Verreaux's Eagle, we have also been approached by the Black Eagle Project Roodekrans to act as Verreaux's Eagle Specialists in their High Court case against Developers on the adjoining property to Walter Sizulu Botanical Gardens.
We have been paramount in the safemaking of various structures ranging from High Voltage Transmission Lines to Telkom Towers and wire Cable Stay systems.
For Vulpro, we were also volunteers in the treatment and triage of all birds of prey, being contacted in emergencies to collect stricken vultures and eagles to bring them in for critical care.
We were also the Verreaux's Eagle Specialists for Vulpro having assisted with the erection of two captive breeding enclosures on their premises, also being paramount in their Captive breeding programme.
For Vulpro we also Assisted in Vulture Colony monitoring - monitoring 2 of the 5 sites on their behalf.
Nest Monitoring and Bird Tracking Technologies, we have developed a tracking unit which is not only light and durable but more comfortable for the raptors to carry, we are in the process of developing a nest based camera which will be able to take HD video and high definition Photo's of the most isolated nests, being able to transmit data in realtime, or act as a slave system which will only download when the master receiver is in close (100m - 500m) proximity.
